1. Who is the program for? Aspiring yoga teachers and students who wish to deepen their practice and transform their lifestyle.
2. What is included in the program? Your core training workshops, workbook & textbook, elective workshops, and student class passes at affiliate studios are provided as part of your tuition.
3. What are “Guided Practice” hours? Guided Practice hours are classes that students take with a YogaAlliance® registered teacher who is open to feedback before, during, and after class.
4. May I take classes at the gym as my “guided practice“ hours? Students may take classes with any YogaAlliance® registered teacher at any venue as long as they are willing to provide guidance and explain the teaching methods used.
5. Do I need to take my classes with only one teacher? You may take classes with more than one teacher.
6. What are “Electives”? Elective workshops are extended classes that have a theme or lesson plan expanding on a yoga concept.
7. Do I have to take the Guided Practice Classes and Elective Workshops at the same venue as my core intensive program? No, you may take classes or workshops at any location as long as it is taught by a YogaAlliance® registered teacher. However, you will be responsible for any fees owed for the event.
8. Do I need to teach public classes if I do not wish to become a teacher? Not necessarily, though it will be hard to schedule a private class. You may, however, co-teach with another student or as a student group for support.
9. I am already teaching yoga classes, may I use some of the hours I have already taught as part of my practicum? No, the purpose of the practical section of this program is to demonstrate the principles that you have learned. You may begin accruing teaching hours after completing the sequencing module.
10. When does the program begin? Your program begins as soon as you commit to the program. Once your tuition is paid in full, you may begin logging class and elective workshop hours immediately.
11. How do I begin taking classes and elective workshops? You must notify the Director in advance and you will be given a pass to redeem the day of class or the workshop.
12. Is there a registration deadline? Yes, all applications and fees are due by January 31, 2011. There is a $200 processing fee for late registration.
13. How long does it take to complete the program? Students usually complete the program in 6 months to one year. But, the program can be completed in as little as 3 months.
14. What if I don’t complete the program in 18 months? You must apply for an extension on your program. Fees apply.
15. Will I be YogaAlliance® registered when I complete the Core Intensive program with Valerie Baltzer? No, student graduates need to submit their application, certificate of completion, and appropriate fees to YogaAlliance®.
16. Do you offer boarding or a meal plan? Not at this time, however, we will provide you with a list of local businesses.
17. What materials do I need to bring? Yoga mat, blocks, 8-10’ yoga strap, bolster, 2 blankets, water bottle, and writing utensils.
18. Which program is best for me? Choose the program that fits best into your lifestyle. Do not select a program that will overextend you beyond your physical, mental, and emotional threshold.
19. Do you offer a scholarship? We do not currently have a “house” scholarship. However, occasionally scholarships and tuition assistance are available through various sources. These are posted to the website as they become available.
20. Do you offer a payment plan? We do not offer a payment plan at this time. However, we do accept credit card payments online at www.transcendingyoga.com .
